Description of GPS Settings
GPS Default Rate: The GPS information gathered by the system is collected by periodically pinging the device. This ping collects the officers current GPS coordinates and updates their location accordingly. The rate (frequency) of this request (ping) to the device can be set here. The more frequent the ping, the more accurate the GPS. However, the battery of the device will be less when the device is pinged more frequenctly.
Minimum Accuracy: This provides a way for the system to exclude GPS information that does not meet a required accuracy. In some cases where officers work indoors, the GPS can be very inaccurate. In these cases the accuracy of the GPS location may be considerably and misleading. Setting the minimum accuracy flushes this data as it can be misleading.
Show Accuracy: An officer's GPS location is always noted with an accuracy. The location on the map can be shown with a green accuracy bubble. The officers location may be any where in this bubble. This option allows admins to turn on the bubble to view on the map or turn it off. With this option off the officer's location will appear in the middle of the accuracy bubble.
